Bio/Short Description

Douglas Rushkoff is a media theorist, writer, columnist, lecturer, graphic novelist, and documentarian. He is an advocate of media literacy and has created numerous resources that help people of all ages to acquire media literacy competencies. Rushkoff is most frequently regarded as a media theorist and has written ten books on media, technology and culture. His most noteworthy media literacy contributions include Program or Be Programmed, Coercion and Screenagers. His documentaries, Merchants of Cool, The Persuaders, and Digital Nation introduced millions of Americans to media literacy. Douglas Rushkoff is currently Professor of Media Theory and Digital Economics at the City University of New York, Queens College.
